This Northern was caught drifting North along the Northwestern shore line. It hit my Jig and Gulp Minnow hard. I was using light tackle, I mean 6-lb fluro leader light. I was lucky the line never ended up in the Pikes mouth!!! There is no way I would have landed this fish if the line found its teeth. It was an amazing fight. First time Fishing Lake Lonely…ever. A good friend of mine had me out on his fishing kayak (also a first) today. A fishing Kayak is now definitely on my shopping list. We got in to the main basin on the Southwestern side, worked our way north. Along the way we learned the contours of the lake. For the most part there are consistent steep drops from 10 to about 25 feet of water. The lake will continue to gradually get deeper. I was getting bites in 8-10 feet of water area.
