Lake George Fishing Report: 05/15/2022 at 02:10 pm - Nate Galimore Fishing - -

I had a tough day out here today, I lost two of my biggest fish. I lost a really big smallmouth bass that was probably about 20 inches. But I caught this 26″ beauty as skies opened up, and began to pour rain down on me.  But it was worth it.  I was making that final try, to make up for the Lake Trout I lost earlier in the day.  While is was in the Northern Basin fishing for Smallmouth Bass, I lost a a 30″ Lake Trout.  What made it really bad was why I lost it.  I am usually very good about having everything ready, especially the net!  We an hour before I lost the 30″ Laker, I went to put my net in its place.  However; it was tangled in trolling gear.  I said never mind I don’t need my net for Bass.  Problem is this time of the year Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout often are in the same habitat, especially in the Northern Basin.  Well I hooked a log of a Lake Trout, and got it to side of the boat.  I tried to boat it by hand, it gave a violent shake and snapped my line.  I watched my personal best Lake Trout swim away slowly. At least i finished the day with this decent Laker.
